Obituary
Comrade Hena Sultana

Comrade Hena Sultana, 30 the ever smiling and vivacious young party cadre of Hooghly District (WB) suddenly passed away on 17 March in PG Hospital, Kolkata, due to some postpartum complications. She was the wife of Comrade Sk. Anarul, the Secretary of Balagarh Block Committee and member of Hooghly District Committee of our party. She hailed from a middle peasant family where the political atmosphere was lacking, let alone the influence of any leftist culture. But soon after her marriage with Comrade Anarul, she very quickly associated herself with the revolutionary activities of our party at the village level.

She was very eager to learn Marxism and listen to the history of our party. For her ever-smiling face and sweet behaviour, she was loved by all. And for this rare quality, she became very popular among the poor villagers, especially among the tribal people in the areas where our party work has recently started. She pleasantly agreed to build up AIPWA at the Block level and also always unfailingly stood at the frontlines in AIARLA. The comrades at Hooghly District would surely never forget the bold figure of Comrade Hena, firmly holding the red flag on her shoulder. Her sudden demise is a bolt from the blue. Hundreds of people paid homage to her mortal remains. The comrades of Hooghly, along with Comrade Anarul, pledged to bring up the new born baby daughter left behind by Hena.

Red salute to Comrade Hena Sultana. Your glory shall never fade!
