Comrade Danu was among the early comrades who took part in the Bindukhatta land struggle. He was actively involved in every major people’s movement in the area. As a member of the CPI(ML) Liberation Nainital District Committee, he participated in struggles concerning land rights, ration cards, employment, the demand for revenue village status, the dairy movement, the Century factory movement and the municipal movement, among others.

Comrade Swaroop Singh Danu devoted his life to the struggles of working people and the building of the Party. His commitment to grassroots organising and his close bonds with the people of Bindukhatta will remain an enduring part of the region’s history of struggle.
